Automatic Configuration of Group Chat

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Automatic configuration is the recommended way to connect Group Chat to Group Chat Server. If you have configured automatic client sign-in for Office Communications Server 2007 R2, you use the same Domain Name System (DNS) records for Group Chat Server.

The Office Communications Server documentation provides specific instructions on creating the DNS records required for automatic client sign-in. For details about using Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition, see Required DNS Records for Automatic Client Sign-In at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=139909. For details about using Enterprise pool with Office Communications 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition, see Configure DNS for your Pool at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=140088.
