Configuring the Client

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

To use Office Communicator Mobile, you must configure your server and account information before you can sign in.

To configure your account settings

  1. On your mobile device, click Start and then click the Communicator Mobile icon to start the program.

  2. Click the Options menu and then click Account

  3. Change the Sign-in address, which defaults to someone@microsoft.com.

  4. Tap Domain\User name, and then type your domain and user name in the specified format.

  5. Tap Password, and then type the password for your account.

  6. If you do not want to type your password every time you sign into Communicator Mobile for Windows Mobile, select the Remember my password check box.

  7. Tap Done.

To configure your general settings

  1. Select the Expand distribution subgroups check box if you need to expand distribution lists.

  2. Select the Show Recent Contacts check box.

  3. Select the Show Delegates check box.

  4. Select the Show Team-Call Group check box.

  5. Select the Display on Home Screen check box if you want Communicator Mobile for Windows Mobile to show up on the Home Screen of the mobile device.

  6. Select the Turn on logging check box.

  7. Tap Done.

Communicator Mobile for Windows Mobile is set for Automatic Configuration after installation. Use the method described below to configure your server manually if Automatic Configuration is not enabled, or if Automatic Configuration fails.

To configure your server information

  1. Start Communicator Mobile on the mobile device.

  2. On the Options screen, tap Server.

  3. Set the External server name to sip.servername.com:443 (get servername from your System Administrator).

  4. Set the Internal server name to sip.servername.com (get servername from your System Administrator).

  5. Under Connect using, tap TLS.

  6. Tap Done.
