Installing Communicator Mobile for Windows Mobile Using ActiveSync 4.5

Use the following procedure to install Office Communicator Mobile using ActiveSync version 4.5.

To install Office Communicator Mobile, ActiveSync 4.5 or later is required on computers running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP. Download ActiveSync from Download Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=126903.
For computers running Windows Vista, download Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) from Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=126907.
  1. Connect your mobile device to the computer running ActiveSync and verify that ActiveSync is showing a connection to the mobile device.

  2. In Windows Explorer, double-click COMMUNICATORMOBILE.SP.MSI (for Smartphone devices) or COMMUNICATORMOBILE.PPC.MSI (for PocketPC devices) installation file.

  3. On the Welcome to the Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile Setup Wizard page, click Next.

  4. Review the license agreement, click I accept the terms in the license agreement (required to continue installation), and then click Next.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • To use the default location to install the program files, click Next.
    • To change the location where the program files are installed, click Location, type the location of the computer where you want to install the Communicator Mobile files, and then click Next.
  6. Click Next.

  7. In the Installing Applications dialog box, click Yes.

  8. In the Application Downloading Complete dialog box, click OK.

  9. Click Close.

  10. Check your mobile device for any additional steps that you need to complete.
