Configuring an array of Forefront TMG servers

Published: November 15, 2009

Updated: February 1, 2011

Applies To: Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG)

You can join a Forefront TMG server to a standalone array or to an enterprise array centrally managed by an Enterprise Management Server (EMS).

When joining Forefront TMG to a standalone array, new policies and configurations are updated from a single Forefront TMG server, which is defined as the array manager. If you require managing more than a single array, you can install an EMS in order to centrally manage all the arrays in your network. From a single point, you can apply enterprise policies and manage configuration updates to all arrays in the EMS. The following topics describe the information needed for configuring an array after installing Forefront TMG:

noteNote:
You can only join or remove a server from a standalone array or enterprise array on the local server. This cannot be done remotely.
