Office Communicator Phone Edition Enhancements

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

The following new features are available on Office Communicator 2007 R2 Phone Edition.

  • Single sign in. You can connect Communicator Phone Edition desk phone to your computer using the provided Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable for automatic sign in using Office Communicator 2007 R2. This provides a simple way to sign in to your desk phone and Office Communicator.

  • Make a one-click audio call. Each contact in your Office Communicator 2007 R2 Contact List has a default number that you can call by clicking the Call button to the right of the contact.

  • USB Audio using Communicator Phone. When your Communicator Phone Edition desk phone is attached to your computer with USB cable, you can receive audio through the phone’s loudspeaker for Office Live Meeting and Office Communicator calls.

  • Ring Tones. You can select up to four ring tones.

  • Redial. You can redial the last number dialed from your phone.

  • Updated Contact Card. Depending on the access level that a contact grants to you, you can see the contact’s phone numbers, schedule free/busy information, phone number of the most recent call, and a personal note the contact has written.

  • Change the language for Communicator Phone. Communicator Phone Edition supports multiple languages. Your administrator can configure one or more languages for your phone depending on the needs for your organization.
