Preparing Active Directory Domain Services for Office Communications Server

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

You can use LCSCmd.exe to prepare and deploy AD DS. This is accomplished through actions in the following contexts:

  • Forest – Prepare the Active Directory forest for Office Communications Server, the schema-naming context, and the configuration-naming context.

  • Domain – Prepare and create permissions for a domain, or several domains, to host Office Communications Server and check the validity of those actions.

  • Server – Activate, check, deactivate, or perform diagnostics on a computer or server acting in an Office Communications Server role.

Actions relating to AD DS must be performed against a specific domain. By default the action will take place locally. If you'd like to specify a different domain, follow the context with the FQDN. For example, to specify a domain when working with domain actions, use this syntax.

LCSCmd /domain:<FQDN> /action:<action>
