Application Server Configuration

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

In Office Communications Server 2007 R2, the Application Server infrastructure has no configurable post-installation settings (during installation, the RTCComponentService service account is assigned and the service is set for automatic start with a dependency on Windows Management Instrumentation [WMI]). A WMI Class exists in the LCWMI provider for Application Server settings— MSFT_SIPApplicationServerSetting—but currently there is no data store for this class.

Because Application Server is a separate Office Communications Server 2007 R2 role, at the time of activation an msRTCSIP-ApplicationServer Service Connection Point (SCP) for each Application Server-role server is published in Active Directory Domain Services separate from SCPs of the other roles, such as the Front-End services and the Conferencing Servers.
