Prepare Back-End SQL Server Database If Necessary

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Deploying Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition requires a separate installation of SQL Server to host the back-end database. For details, see the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition Deployment Guiden documentation.

Deploying Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition will install SQL Server Express on the Standard Edition server. For details, see the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition Deployment Guide documentation.

If you are deploying an Enterprise Edition pool, you will need to prepare a SQL server for the back-end database. For details on these tasks, see Configure SQL Server for Office Communications Server in the Deploying Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition documentation.
