NTP and Communicator Phone Edition

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Network Time Protocol (NTP) is the default time synchronization protocol that is used by the Windows Time service in Windows Server 2003. NTP is a fault-tolerant, highly scalable, time protocol that is used most frequently for synchronizing computer clocks. It does this by using a designated time reference. Communicator Phone Edition requires NTP to set the correct time and date for Communicator Phone Edition.
