Activating Office Communications Server (Command Line)

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

After you have installed the various server roles in Office Communications Server 2007 R2, you need to activate each server. LCSCmd provides an Activate action for every server role. Activate creates Active Directory settings for the server while assigning a service account and permissions.

Before beginning this task for any Office Communications Server joined to an Active Directory domain, all ForestPrep and DomainPrep actions should be successfully completed. After you activate each server, verify that the task was successful by running the CheckLCServerState command as detailed in Checking the Server State (Command Line).
