Analyze the environment in which the snapshot operation was being attempted, including the virtual machine configuration, the permissions on the folder containing the virtual machine configuration files and virtual hard disks as well as disk space. Also, look at the event log for prior failure events. Then, retry the operation.
By default virtual machine configuration files are at %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines. %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Snapshots.
A snapshot in Hyper-V is a file-based snapshot of the state, disk data, and configuration of a virtual machine at a specific point in time. For more information about snapshots, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=147648.
