Installing Discovery Services

Following are the prerequisites for the CCF Discovery Services:

  • Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2003 with the latest SP - for the CCF framework.

  • Microsoft Internet Information Server 6.0 or 7.0 – to manage CCF Web services

  • Microsoft MMC 3.0.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 or later available from Microsoft – You can verify whether you have .NET Framework 3.0 installed by either of the following methods:

    • On a machine that is not a server or does not have IIS installed, open Windows Explorer and navigate to <install Drive>\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework. If .NET 3.0 is installed, the folder is listed with the version number v3.0.
    • Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Ensure Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is available in the list of programs.
  • Visual Studio 2008 or Visual Studio 2005 SP1– used by the Multichannel Engine and HAT v2. Ensure you have Visual Studio Developer edition installed on your machine. You must install the Visual C# component (Language Tools > Visual C# in the Options page of Visual Studio installation) as a part of the Visual Studio. The CCF 2009 installer installs an appropriate extension toolkit based on the version of Visual Studio available.

  • Guidance Automation Extensions 1.4 (GAX) SP1 – used by the Multichannel Engine and available from Microsoft.

  • Windows Workflow Foundation Extensions for Visual Studio 2005 available from Microsoft

To install a Discovery Server:

  1. On the Product CD, click Setup.

  2. In the Welcome window, click Next.

  3. In License Agreement window, read the End User License Agreement, select the agree button, and click Next.

  4. In the Customer Information window, enter the User Name and Organization and click Next.

  5. In the Installation Environment window, select the Install CCF Components and click Next.

  6. The Custom Setup screen is displayed.

  8. In the Custom Setup screen, select the following components:

    • Distributed Connectivity Services
    • Server Components > DCS Software Factory.
  9. Optionally, you can change the installed path by click on Change and choosing an alternative path.

  10. Click OK to display the installation prerequisite check dialog box.

  11. The installation checks for the availability of prerequisites and displays a report. The prerequisites that are not available are marked with an error symbol. Ensure you have all the prerequisites installed and click OK.

  13. In the Ready to Install screen, click Install to start the installation.

  14. The Post Installation Scripts screen is displayed after the installation is complete. The DCS Installation is initiated as a part of the Post Installation Scripts.

  15. In the Welcome window, click Next.

  16. In License Agreement window, read the End User License Agreement, select the agree button, and click Next.

  17. In the Installation Path and Disk Space Information screen, you can change the installed path by click on Browse and choosing an alternative path.

  18. Click Next to display the Custom Setup screen.

  19. Select the following components and click on Next:

    • Discovery Service
    • Management Console

  21. In the DCS Discovery Service User Account Configuration screen, enter the user name and password of a user with web service log on privileges on the machine.

  22. The DCS Discovery Web Service Configuration screen displays the information used to configure the service. Click Next to view the Discovery Database screen.

  23. In the Discovery Database screen, select the database you want to use for the discovery service and click Next. Optionally, you can click on Browse to view the list of databases available.

  24. In the Management Services Configuration screen, enter the endpoint information of the discovery service for application management. The URL should point to the server where the discovery service is installed. Click Next to view the Ready to Install screen.

  25. Click Next to install the Discovery Server component. After the Policy Server component is installed, DCS Business Logic Extensions installation is initiated.

  26. In the Services Configuration screen, enter the following details:

    • Discovery Service Uri: Location of the discovery service Uri.
    • DCS Management Database Server: Name of the server where the database is located.
  27. The DCS Management Database field displays the name of the DCS management database server. Click Next to view the Service Configuration Database screen.

  28. In the Services Configuration Database screen, enter the following details:

    • Service Configuration Server Name: Location of the discovery service Uri.
    • Security Token Service Uri: Location of the security token service Uri.
  29. The Service Configuration Database Name field displays the name of the DCS service management database server. Click Next to view the Workflow Persistence Configuration screen.

  30. In the Workflow Persistence Configuration screen, enter the workflow persistence server name and click Next.

  31. Click Next in the Ready to Install screen.

  32. Click Next in the Post Installation Scripts screen to complete the installation.

  33. Click Finish.
