Topic Last Modified: 2009-05-27

The Communicator Mobile for Java client software is a small, lightweight application that is optimized for mobility scenarios. The client software can be downloaded over the air or installed directly to a device tethered to a computer. The Communicator Mobile for Java client is supported in an Office Communications Server 2007 R2 deployment, and it requires that the Communicator Web Access server be deployed. This section provides the information and procedures needed to install Communicator Mobile for Java.

The following are prerequisites for installing the Communicator Mobile for Java client software:

Communicator Mobile for Java leverages the features in the Communicator Web Access server, so you must deploy Communicator Web Access if you want to deploy Communicator Mobile for Java. You must also install the other server components. For details about the required server components, see Communicator Web Access Support in the Planning and Architecture documentation.
  • Communicator Mobile component. The Communicator Mobile component is required for server-side support of Communicator Mobile for Java.
