Permissions for common administrative operations (Search Server 2008)

Search Server 2008

Updated: April 16, 2009

Applies To: Microsoft Search Server 2008

Updated: 2009-04-16

NoteNote:

The information in this article applies to both Microsoft Search Server 2008 and Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express.

Search Server 2008 has several levels of search administration:

  • Server administrator

  • Farm administrator

  • SSP administrator

  • Site collection administrator

  • Site administrator

You can download a poster, Permissions for common administrative operations, which provides information about operations and permissions for each of these administrative levels. To download, right-click the link, click Save Target As, navigate to a directory to which to download the file, and then click Save. If you do not have Microsoft Office Visio 2007 installed, you can view the file by installing the free Visio 2007 Viewer (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=118761).

NoteNote:

This poster does not address site administrator permissions because operations at the site administrator level need not be performed by IT professionals. Such operations can be performed by information workers.
