How to Specify the Essentials Reporting Server for Virtual Machine Manager 2008

Use the following procedure to enable reporting in Virtual Machine Manager 2008 (VMM) after you deploy System Center Essentials 2007 SP1. Until you perform the following procedure, the Reporting view does not appear in the VMM Administrator Console.

To enable reporting in Virtual Machine Manager 2008

  1. In the VMM Administrator Console, click the Administration navigation button to open the Administration workspace.

  2. In the navigation pane, click System Center.

  3. In the System Center pane, select Operations Manager Reporting URL.

  4. In the Actions pane, under Settings, click Modify.

  5. To enable reporting, in the Reporting Settings dialog box, do the following:

    1. Select the Enable reporting check box.

    2. Specify the URL for the Operations Manager report server in the format http[s]://<EssentialsServer>[:<port>]/<ReportServer>, where:

      • <EssentialsServer> is the computer name of the Essentials management server.

      • <ReportServer> is the name of the report server virtual directory (by default, “ReportServer”)

  6. Click OK to have VMM check for a valid report server, and then save the settings.

  7. Verify that Reporting view is added to the VMM Administrator Console
