The reports provided with the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack can help you understand trends in your Exchange environment over specified time periods, such as a week or year. Reporting is an optional component of Operations Manager 2007. See the table that follows for a list of reports and a description of each report.

The reports in this management pack use an Operations Manager 2007 R2 feature which enables reports to automatically search for the types of parameters that the report expects. For instructions about how to run the reports, see How to Run Exchange 2007 Management Pack Reports.

Report Name Report Description

Exchange 2007 Average Mailbox Size

This report shows the average mailbox sizes of the selected Exchange mailbox databases over time. The report shows the average mailbox sizes (in gigabytes) of all the selected Exchange 2007 mailbox databases. One chart is displayed with the average mailbox sizes over time for all provided databases. It is then possible to drill in to see the average mailbox sizes for individual Exchange 2007 mailbox databases.

Exchange 2007 Client Access Server Transaction Configuration

This report shows the configured Client Access server synthetic transactions. The report shows a listing of all configured Client Access server transactions including OWA, ActiveSync, Web Services, IMAP and POP3. The report will show the sources and targets for the Client Access server transactions. Do not select a group for this report, select object types. Group behavior will not be correct for this report.

Exchange 2007 Client RPC Latency > 2 seconds

This report shows the number of client RPC transactions taking longer than 2 seconds of the selected Exchange mailbox servers over time (Outlook 2003 and later versions). Client RPC latency is collected in milliseconds. One chart is displayed which averages the values across all selected mailbox servers. It is then possible to drill in and see values for each mailbox server.

Exchange 2007 Database and Log Latency

This report shows the database and log I/O averaged latencies of the selected Exchange 2007 mailbox servers over time. One chart is displayed which averages the values across all selected mailbox servers. It is then possible to drill in and see values for each mailbox server. I/O Database Writes Average Latency is the average length of time, in milliseconds, per database write operation. I/O Log Writes Average Latency is the average length of time, in milliseconds, per logfile write operation. I/O Log Reads/sec is the rate of logfile read operations completed.

Exchange 2007 Database File Growth

This report shows the size of the selected Exchange 2007 databases over time. The report shows the size in gigabytes of the MDB as reported by the Exchange Server's disk file system. One chart is displayed with database size over time for all provided databases. Note that the size of the databases will not shrink unless the database is taken offline and eseutil is run in defragmentation mode.

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Transaction Configuration

The report shows a listing of all mail flow transactions, local, intra-organization and inter-organization. It will show the sources and targets for the mail flow transactions. Do not select a group for this report, select object types. Groups will not behave as expected.

Exchange 2007 Mailbox Messages Delivered Report

The report shows the number of messages delivered to the selected Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers over time. The report first aggregates totals for all the servers selected in the report, and then allows the user to drill down to see the data per server in a separate graph. One chart is displayed with the number of messages delivered over time for all provided Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers. The report uses the MSExchangeIS Mailbox Messages Delivered/sec counter to approximate total message volume for the given time period.

Exchange 2007 SMTP Messages Sent

The report shows the number of messages sent by the selected Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers to the transport over time. The report first aggregates totals for all the servers selected in the report, and then allows the user to drill down to see the data per server in a separate graph. One chart is displayed with the number of messages sent over time for all provided Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers. The report uses the MSExchangeIS Mailbox Messages Sent/sec counter to approximate total message volume for the given time period.

Exchange 2007 Number of Mailboxes.

This report shows the number of mailboxes of the selected Exchange 2007 databases over time. The report shows the average number of mailboxes of all the selected Exchange 2007 databases over time. It is then possible to drill in to see the number of mailboxes for individual Exchange 2007 databases.

Exchange 2007 Server Disk Free Space

This report shows the disk percentage free space in MB of the disks with Exchange data on them on the selected Exchange servers. The report shows free space in % of the selected Exchange 2007 disks. The average of the % free space for all the provided disks shown. It is then possible to drill in and see values for each disk.

Exchange 2007 SMTP Messages Received Report

The report shows the number of SMTP messages received by the selected Exchange 2007 Hub or Edge Transport servers over time. The report first aggregates totals for all the servers selected in the report, and then allows the user to drill down to see the data per server in a separate graph. One chart is displayed with the number of SMTP messages received over time for all provided Exchange 2007 Hub or Edge Transport servers. The report uses the MSExchangeTransport SmtpReceive Messages Received/sec counter to approximate total message volume for the given time period.

Exchange 2007 SMTP Messages Sent

This report shows the number of SMTP messages sent by the selected Exchange 2007 Hub or Edge Transport servers to the transport over time. The report first aggregates totals for all the servers selected in the report, and then allows the user to drill down to see the data per server in a separate graph. One chart is displayed with the number of SMTP messages sent over time for all provided Exchange 2007 Hub or Edge Transport servers. The report uses the MSExchangeTransport SmtpSend Messages Sent/sec counter to approximate total message volume for the given time period.

Exchange 2007 Store RPC Performance

This report shows the RPC averaged latency and RPC requests of the selected Exchange 2007 mailbox servers over time. One chart is displayed which averages the values across all selected mailbox servers. It is then possible to drill in and see values for each Mailbox server.

Exchange 2007 Top N Mailboxes by Message Count

This report shows the mailbox sizes in terms of number of messages of the top N mailboxes (default 100) in the selected Exchange 2007 mailbox databases. One chart is displayed with the size of the top N mailboxes over time for all provided databases.

Exchange 2007 Top N Public Folders by Message Count

This report shows the mailbox sizes of the top N public folders (default 100) in the selected Exchange 2007 Public Folder databases. One chart is displayed with the size of the top N public folders over time for all provided databases.

This report shows the public folder sizes in terms of number of messages of the top N public folders (default 100) in the selected Exchange 2007 Public Folder databases. One chart is displayed with the size of the top N public folders over time for all provided databases.

Exchange 2007 ActiveSync Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the ActiveSync service by site. The report shows the availability of the ActiveSync service in each Active Directory site with the agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-activesyncconnectivity synthetic transactions on Client Access servers. Note that you will need to configure ActiveSync synthetic transactions since they do not run by default. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Hub Transport Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the Hub Transport service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the Hub Transport service in each Active Directory site with agent-managed Exchange 2007 Hub role servers

Exchange 2007 IMAP4 Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the IMAP4 service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the IMAP4 service in each Active Directory site with agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-imapconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on each Client Access server. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Cross Organization Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for cross-organization mail flow synthetic transactions during the time specified in the parameters. The report shows availability of each cross-organization mail flow synthetic transaction. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-mailflow synthetic transaction, which is run from agent-managed Exchange 2007 servers you have configured to send to an e-mail address. Note that you will need to configure these synthetic transactions. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Local Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for local mail flow synthetic transactions during the time specified in the parameters The report shows availability of each local mail flow synthetic transaction. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-mailflow synthetic transaction. By default, each agent-managed Exchange 2007 Mailbox server will perform a local mailflow test, to ensure that it can find a Hub Transport server in its local site, and that the mail can be delivered. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Local Latency SLA

Use this report to view mail flow latency for the configured local mail flow transactions. The report shows latency of the configured local mail flow transactions and compares this to a target service level objective. The default Service Level Objective is less than 5 minutes or 300 seconds delivery time for the time parameters selected. The Service Level Objective is entered in seconds.

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Remote Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for remote mail flow synthetic transactions during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of each remote mail flow synthetic transaction. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-mailflow synthetic transaction, which is run between the agent-managed Exchange 2007 servers you have configured. Note that you will need to configure these synthetic transactions. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability

Exchange 2007 Mail Flow Remote Latency SLA

Use this report to view mail flow latency for the configured remote mail flow transactions. The report shows latency of the configured remote mail flow transactions and compares this to a target service level objective. The default Service Level Objective is less than 15 minutes or 900 seconds delivery time for the time parameters selected. The Service Level Objective is entered in seconds.

Exchange 2007 Mailbox Database Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for mailbox databases during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of each mailbox database. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-mapiconnectivity synthetic transaction, which by default is run against all mailbox databases on all agent-managed Exchange 2007 servers.

Exchange 2007 MAPI Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the MAPI service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the MAPI service in each Active Directory site with agent-managed Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-mapiconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on each Mailbox server. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 OWA External Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for OWA External synthetic transactions during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of each OWA external synthetic transaction. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-owaconnectivity synthetic transaction, which is run between the agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers you have configured. Note that you will need to configure these synthetic transactions. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 OWA Internal Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for OWA Internal synthetic transactions during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of each OWA internal synthetic transaction. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-owaconnectivity synthetic transaction, which is run between the agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers you have configured. Note that you will need to configure these synthetic transactions. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 OWA Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the OWA service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the OWA service in each Active Directory site with agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-owaconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on each Client Access server. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 POP3 Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the POP3 service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the POP3 service in each Active Directory site with the agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-popconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on each Client Access server. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the Exchange 2007 services delivered within each Active Directory site for the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the Exchange 2007 services in each Active Directory site with the agent-managed Exchange 2007 servers. SLOs are defined for the site services delivered within the site (ActiveSync, Hub Transport, IMAP4, POP3, MAPI, OWA, Web Services). The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 UM Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the Unified Messaging service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the Unified Messaging service in each Active Directory site with agent-managed Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-umconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on the configured Unified Messaging servers. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.

Exchange 2007 Web Services Site Service Availability SLA

Use this report to view availability for the Web Services service by site during the time specified in the parameters. This report shows availability of the Web Services service in each Active Directory site with the agent-managed Exchange 2007 Client Access servers. Availability is calculated using the output from the test-webservicesconnectivity synthetic transaction that runs on each Client Access server. The default Service Level Objective is 99% availability.
