The Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager runs Exchange Management Shell cmdlets to monitor the Exchange environment. Running cmdlets triggers one or more Operations Manager alerts if a problem is detected in your Exchange environment.

 Explanation

This alert indicates the Test-Mailflow cmdlet encountered transaction errors while attempting to run a remote message test on a Mailbox server.

When a remote test is performed, the remote server must have a System Mailbox mailbox for each mailbox database.

User Action

To resolve this alert, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the details of the alert message to determine the specific error.

  • Review the Mail Flow State view in the Operations console and ensure that the target server is available.

  • Review the Application log on the Mailbox server for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the cause of this error.

  • Ensure that the other required Exchange 2007 services are running. Review the Mailbox Servers Active Alerts view to determine if there are alerts related to stopped services on the source or target Mailbox server.

  • Log on to the Mailbox server and run the Test-Mailflow cmdlet manually.

  • Verify that the account that is used to run the Test-Mailflow cmdlet has the following permissions assigned:

    • Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the server where the cmdlet is run
  • Verify that the target Mailbox server has a System Mailbox mailbox for each mailbox database that exists on the target server.
