The Add-MsolRoleMember cmdlet is used to add a member to a role. Only users can be added to a role (adding a security group is not supported).

    -RoleMemberEmailAddress <string>
        The object ID of the member to add. For users, this should be the user 
        ID. Only users can be added to a role (adding a security group is not 
        supported). Either RoleMemberEmailAddress or RoleMemberObjectId should 
        be provided.

This command adds user@contoso.com to the Company Administrator role. To get the list of values for RoleName, use the Get-MsolRole cmdlet.
