Summary: Learn how to configure and monitor a SharePoint library folder.

Monitoring SharePoint folders

The system can monitor files in a SharePoint document library. You can specify just the document library, or specify an individual folder within the library.

Add a SharePoint folder to monitor

  1. Click Site Actions and then click Site Settings.

  2. Under Site Administration, click Monitored Folders.

  3. Click Add SharePoint Folder.

  4. Enter the URL to the SharePoint site you wish to monitor.

  5. In the Document Library Name box, enter the name of the SharePoint document folder.

  6. Enter the name of the folder path within the document library (optional).

  7. Enter the file extension(s) of the files types to monitor. Use a semi-colon to separate the file types if specifying more than one, using the following format: *.xlsx; *.xlsm; *.accdb

  8. Select a tracking level for Excel files.

    Note

    The tracking level you select will have a direct impact on the amount of data collected. The recommended setting is Functional.

  9. Enter the File processor alias.

  10. Enter the users or groups that have permission to edit folder properties. These users also have permission to view file details in the folder.

  11. Enter the users or groups that have permission to view file details in the folder.

  12. Click OK.
