Monitoring network folders

The system can monitor files located in a file on your network.

To add a network folder to monitor

  1. Click Site Actions and then click Site Settings.

  2. Under Site Administration, click Monitored Folders.

  3. Click Add a UNC Folder.

  4. Enter the path to the network folder you wish to monitor.

  5. Enter the file extension(s) of the files types to monitor. Use a semi-colon to separate the file types if specifying more than one, using the following format: *.xlsx; *.xlsm; *.accdb.

  6. Under Desired Monitoring Mode, select if you wish to monitor the folder and sub-folders, or just the folder.

  7. Select a tracking level for Excel files.

    Note

    The tracking level you select will have a direct impact on the amount of data collected. The recommended setting is Functional.

  8. Select the frequency that changes will be tracked.

  9. Enter the path to the location where the versions of the monitored files will be saved.

  10. Select a file processor alias.

  11. Under Versioning mode, select how many file revisions are to be kept and kept for how long.

    Note

    Change history details are kept only for the file revisions that you keep according to the Versioning Mode. This means that change history details are removed when the file revision they apply to is removed. To keep change history details for all revisions, you must keep all revisions.

  12. Enter the users or groups that have permission to edit folder properties. These users also have permission to view file details in the folder.

  13. Enter the users or groups that have permission to view file details in the folder.

  14. Click OK.
