Solutions using Office Servers and the Cloud

Applies to: SharePoint Server 2013, Lync Server 2013, Exchange Server 2013

Topic Last Modified: 2014-05-19

Summary: This solutions content highlights SharePoint Server 2013, Exchange Server 2013, and Lync Server 2013, in addition to solutions for Microsoft Azure and Office 365.

In a real-world technology solution, different products and services work well together. For example, you want your Exchange Server 2013 messaging environment to work seamlessly with your document repositories in SharePoint Server 2013 and the enterprise-voice capabilities in Lync Server 2013. In addition, if your solution includes services like Exchange Online or Azure to reduce costs or make the solution easier to manage, you want your on-premises products and cloud services experience to be great.

Consider an eDiscovery scenario, where you must collect data in response to a request for information in a lawsuit. Aspects of eDiscovery, such as in-place hold, are available in Exchange 2013 and in SharePoint 2013. Office 365 products, such as Exchange Online, also support eDiscovery. At this point, you might ask:

  • Which combination of products and services best serves my users and makes sense for my organization right now?

  • How do I set up my organization to best take advantage of cloud services?

  • How do I deliver a seamless experience?

Our goal is to give you solutions content that answers these questions and explains how to implement SharePoint Server 2013, Exchange Server 2013, Lync Server 2013 and related services in common scenarios, such as eDiscovery.
