Exchange Online Dedicated

Applies to: Exchange Online Dedicated

Topic Last Modified: 2014-04-18

Microsoft offers several versions of Exchange Online for enterprise environments. In comparison to the commonly known Exchange Online service provided in a virtualized environment on multi-tenant hardware, the Exchange Online Dedicated offering is a premium service provided to a single tenant on dedicated hardware. The underlying operating environment for each service version is similar and many of the IT professional topics for the multi-tenant offering are applicable to Exchange Online Dedicated.

In some cases, the features and functionality of Exchange Online Dedicated differ slightly at the administrative and user levels compared to its multi-tenant peer. In this area of the TechNet library, IT professional-level guidance is provided specifically for Exchange Online Dedicated environments. Unless otherwise indicated in the material, the information provided also applies to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR-support) version of Exchange Online.

The Customer Extranet site (accessible only to current Exchange Online Dedicated customers) contains IT professional Help content for the Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 releases of Exchange Online Dedicated. For existing customers using the Exchange Server 2010 release, the Exchange Server 2013 offering is an upgrade. For additional information about the upgrade, see What's new in Exchange Online Dedicated and Pre-upgrade priority actions for Exchange Online Dedicated.

The IT professional Help content for the Exchange 2013 release of Exchange Online Dedicated aligns with the topic categories found in the Exchange Online Dedicated Service Description.
