Installing Windows Azure Pack software prerequisites

Applies To: Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server

Follow these steps to install prerequisite software on each component machine.

  1. Install the Windows Server® 2012 operating system or the Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system.

  2. Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC) for Administrators by using Server Manager. See the following TechNet blog to learn how to do this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/chenley/archive/2011/03/10/how-to-turn-off-ie-esc.aspx.

  3. Install Microsoft Web Platform Installer 4.6.

  4. If you are using Windows Server 2012, make sure that the following features are installed and enabled, in this order:

    1. Internet Information Services (IIS) recommended configuration.

    2. Enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 in Server Manager.

    3. .NET Framework 4.5 Extended, with ASP.NET for Windows 8.

  5. If you are using Windows Server 2012 R2, make sure that the following features are installed and enabled, in this order:

    1. Enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 in Server Manager.

    2. .NET 4.5 Extended, with ASP.NET for Windows 8.

    3. IIS recommended configuration.

  6. Use Microsoft Update to install all available Windows and .NET Framework updates.
