Installing SP4 for Forefront UAG 2010

This section describes how to install Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) Service Pack 4.

Forefront UAG SP4 can be installed only on Forefront UAG SP3 Rollup 1, including any subsequent hotfixes. To install Forefront UAG SP4, you should install your server as follows:

  1. Make sure all service packs up to and including Forefront UAG SP3 Rollup 1 are installed.

  2. Install Forefront UAG SP4.

The Forefront UAG SP4 update can be obtained from the Microsoft Download Center (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=285228).

Note the locations of the Setup log files that can help you to troubleshoot installation issues:

  • Setup log files for Forefront TMG are located at %windir%\Temp.

  • Setup log files for Forefront UAG are located at %ProgramData%\Microsoft\UAG\Logs.

Installation recommendations

Before you install SP4, we recommend that you create a system restore point and back up your configuration. We also recommend that you activate the configuration whenever you install a new Service Pack or Update.

Importing configurations

There are three methods to import a configuration into Forefront UAG SP4:

  1. Import the configuration from Forefront UAG SP3

    1. Export the configuration from the server running SP3 Rollup 1.

    2. Copy the configuration file to the server running SP4.

    3. Double click the upgradeschemaUtil.exe file (found under common\bin\).

    4. Use the utility to choose the SP3 configuration file that you previously exported.

    5. Enter the password for the file.

    6. Run the utility.

    7. The configuration is imported into the server running SP4.

  2. Perform an in-place upgrade

    1. Run the installer file: UAG-KB2861386-v4.0.4083.10000-ENU.msp.

    2. The configuration from the server running SP3 Rollup 1 is automatically imported during the installation of SP4.

  3. Import the configuration from an existing server running SP4

    1. Export the configuration from the first server running SP4.

    2. Import the configuration file to the second server running SP4.

    3. Activate the configuration.
