Copying, Moving, and Renaming User Accounts

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Scripting Guide

Copying and moving user accounts are relatively common administrative tasks. While it is not necessary to copy a user account in order to create a new one, it saves time because common attributes can be copied from an existing user account to a new user account.

Moving user accounts is an important task for managing changes within an organization. For example, if a user is promoted, it might be necessary to move the users account to another OU. A user account name might need to be changed if a users last name (sn attribute) changes or if a new employee takes over for an employee who has left the company.
