Install the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host Role Service

Applies To: Windows Server 2008 R2

Use the following procedure to install the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RD Virtualization Host) role service.

ImportantImportant
When you install the RD Virtualization Host role service, the Hyper-V role is also installed (if it is not already installed). Therefore, the computer on which you install the RD Virtualization Host role service must meet the hardware requirements for the Hyper-V role. For more information about Hyper-V hardware requirements, see Hardware Considerations.

The installation of the RD Virtualization Host role service requires the computer to be restarted.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, on the RD Virtualization Host server that you plan to configure, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477.
