Understanding Update Rollups for Exchange 2007

Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3), Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1), and Exchange Server 2007 release to manufacturing (RTM) are serviced by a series of cumulative update rollup packages. The series of update rollup packages for each version of Exchange Server 2007 is independent of the corresponding series for the immediately preceding versions of Exchange Server 2007 RTM. For example, the series of update rollup packages for Exchange Server 2007 SP2 are independent of the corresponding series for Exchange Server 2007 SP1 or Exchange Server 2007 RTM.

The most recent update rollup in the series includes the fixes that were released in previous update rollups for the same series. For example, if you install Update Rollup 2 for Exchange 2007 SP1, it includes the fixes that were released in Update Rollup 1 for Exchange 2007 SP1.

Therefore, you must install only the most recent update rollup in the series that is applicable to your installation. In the following tables, the most recent update rollup is listed first. For reference, the update rollups that precede the most recent update rollup, if any, are also listed.
