Walkthrough: Run Exchucutil.ps1

Topic Last Modified: 2009-07-15

The ExchUCUtil tool (ExchUCUtil.ps1) is a Windows PowerShell script that has two functions:

  • Grants Office Communications Server permission to read Exchange Unified Messaging Active Directory objects, specifically Exchange Unified Messaging attributes, so that it can create contact objects for each auto-attendant and subscriber access.
  • Creates a Unified Messaging IP gateway object for each Office Communications Server pool and associates the gateways to the Unified Messaging SIP dial plans that are defined for Office Communications Server.

You can run the tool when you initially configure Exchange Unified Messaging for use with Office Communications Server, and again after the Exchange Unified Messaging SIP dial plans are created for Office Communications Server.

You must run the tool again in the following situations:

  • When a new Unified Messaging SIP dial plan is created for Office Communications Server.
  • When a new Office Communications Server is deployed.

The tool is installed at %programfiles%\microsoft\exchange server\scripts.

You access the tool by using the Exchange Management Shell. At the command prompt, go to the location of the tool. Type exchucutil.ps1, and then press ENTER. You can verify the results of the script in the Exchange Management Console.
