Local Group Policy Editor Not Configured error

This article details the Local Group Policy Editor error that occurs within Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access or User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access when the state of the setting is set to Not configured after being set to Enabled. This behavior applies to processing both local Group Policy Objects and domainbased Group Policy Objects.

Symptoms

When changing the state of a Computer Configuration or User Configuration Removable Storage Access policy through the Local Group Policy Editor from Enabled to Not configured, the behavior of the policy does not change.

Resolution

Instead of changing the state to Not configured, change the state of the policy to Disabled.
