Importing migrated server settings
[This topic is pre-release documentation and is subject to change in future releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

After installing Forefront UAG RC1, you can import configuration settings exported from Forefront UAG RC0, using the Forefront UAG Configuration Upgrade Utility. This tool migrates RC0 configuration settings, registry entries, Forefront UAG DirectAccess settings, rules, and access policies, to an RC1 format.

The following procedure describes how to import migrated settings using the Configuration Upgrade Utility.

To import migrated settings

  1. Open the following folder in the Forefront UAG installation folder: \Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway\Common\Bin.

  2. Double-click the UAGSchemaUpgradeUtil.exe file to run the tool.

  3. At c:\, type the drive and location of the exported .xml. Alternatively, click the folder icon to browse for the folder.

  4. After specifying the folder name, click Upgrade to begin the configuration migration. The tool verifies system requirements on the computer on which you are running the tool, and converts the RC0 configuration settings to RC1.

  5. During the migration, you must specify the password that was set when the configuration file was exported.

  6. After the data conversion is complete, activate the Forefront UAG configuration to save the new settings.

Post-migration issues

After migration, you should be aware of the following:

  • After importing a configuration with SSL network tunneling with SSTP enabled, you must reconfigure the internal network after running the Upgrade tool. To do this, on the Admin menu of the Forefront UAG Management console, click Network Interfaces to open the Network Configuration Wizard. On the Define Network Adapters page, define settings for the adapter that is connected to the internal network.

  • Certificates installed on the Forefront UAG RC0 server are not migrated. Ensure that any certificates required for Forefront UAG deployment scenarios are installed on the Forefront UAG RC1 servers.
