Word Automation Service - SQL Server exception event - Event 1001 (SharePoint Server 2010)

 

Alert Name:   Word Automation Service SQL Server exception event

Event ID:   1001

Summary:   The Word Automation Service uses a custom database to queue jobs and job items for processing. Access to this database is required for the Word Automation Service to function.

The Word Automation Service attempts to communicate with its custom database on four separate occasions:

  • Once per Job when a new job is submitted.

  • Once per start of the Word Automation Service timer job.

  • Once per finish of the Word Automation Service timer job.

  • Once per conversion attempt.

If the custom database is not accessible at these times, the Word Automation Service fails and you experience the following symptoms.

Symptoms:   One or more of the following symptoms might appear:

  • New jobs cannot be submitted successfully.

  • Existing job items never complete or appear to make no progress in the job queue.

  • This event appears in the event log: Event ID: 1001 Description: The job queue is not accessible.

Cause:   One or more of the following might be the cause:

  • The physical SQL Server computer is offline.

  • The custom database is not configured correctly.

  • Permissions to access the custom database are not valid.

  • The custom database is not responsive enough due to activity on the network or physical SQL server.

  • The custom database is inaccessible for another reason.

Resolution:   Verify that the custom database is configured correctly

Resolution:   Verify that the instance of SQL Server is online and is not overloaded by network or server activity
