Active Directory Web Service Monitoring

Applies To: Operations Manager 2007, Windows Server 2012

Active Directory Web Services (ADWS) is a new service in Windows Server 2008 R2. The Active Directory Management Gateway Service is an equivalent service that can be added to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003. These services provide support for commands in the Active Directory module for Windows PowerShell commands, as well as the Active Directory Administrative Center. If ADWS or the Active Directory Management Gateway Service are not functioning properly on their respective operating systems, Windows PowerShell commands and the Active Directory Administrative Center will not function properly. The ADMP monitors the ADWS to ensure it is running and available.
