XP mode broken after SP1?

I work with a fairly large comapny. We have hundreds of computers that we deploy to our employees so they can work from home or on the road. On our Windows 7 machines, several of the applications we use can only be used with XP mode. The reason for this is that we use some browser-based applications, and any of the browsers beyond IE6 allow a bleed-through of data from one tab/window to the next when opening more than 1.

To make things easier on our sometimes not-quite-so-computer-literate end users, we would set it up so that the XP Mode Applications have shortcuts on the Windows 7 desktop so they can launch them directly and allow the VPC to run in the background. This worked very well for us until SP1 was pushed out and installed on these machines. Now, the virtual applications fail to launch when attempting to launch them from the Windows 7 desktop. Not only that, but when we attempt to launch the full XP mode, it fails to enable the integration features after attempting multiple times. After displaying a error message stating that the integration features have been disabled, we are prompted to enter the passworrd that we have set for the xp mode user. Once we enter the password, it logs in and we are capable of launching IE6 from inside the VPC. From there we are capable of using the applications.

My supervisors and I have several problems with this. First, it doesn't work the way we have trained our users to use the applications in Windows 7. To have to re-train a few dozen users on how to go through all of this would not only cost us in downtime, but also brings up the second main problem... the sheer time it takes to launch the full XP mode with these errors. It takes up to 10 minutes to get through all the error messages to be able to launch IE6. With several dozen users affected by this, and for each of them to have to go through all of this a couple times a day, would impact our productivity greatly.

Does anybody have any idea on an easy fix or at least a work-around for this? I am hoping to not be forced into uninstalling and reinstalling Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode on every machine.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Trying to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on VM
I've been having some trouble trying to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on Windows Virtual PC. I mounted the iso image to the VM and it detects it fine but when it loads everything, it'll just come up to a blank screen. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and I'm quite sure it works on this type of windows (Windows Xp Mode doesnt work on Home Premium). Any help would be appreciated.

Running Virtual under 32 bit and installing 64bit
What I have learned is at this time if you install a 32 bit application on a 32bit os you can't install a 64 bit os under a virtual enviroment unless you install a 64bit os app with the virtual 64bit or 32 bit if that makes any sense. The file system are different from a 32 to 64 bit you can upgrade to a 64 but not down to a 32bit

The quickest way to get a WinXP virtual PC running
I just spent 6 hours trying to get a virtual PC image to have a little bit bigger hard drive, to be able to map to my drives in my host Windows 7 OS, and to be able to download all the bits of different XP Mode, integrations, and addins for Windows XP in Win7 to make it work. I failed. However, I started all over by download VMPLayer from VMware, installed WinXP clean, and all in less than 45 minutes. The bottom line is that VMPlayer runs WinXP much better than Virtual PC or XPMode or XPinWin7 or whatever you are supposed to do in to try and make it work with the Windows products.
