UI Elements

Element Name Description

Domain

Choose a domain from the drop-down list for the Sitemap or Sitemap index file.

URL Structure

Use the drop-down list to specify how the URL structure of the Sitemap or Sitemap index should be determined. Select Physical Location to let the folder structure of your Web site determine the hierarchy. Choose From Site Analysis (<SiteAnalysisName>) to obtain the structure from an existing analysis. Choose Run New Site Analysis to open the New Analysis dialog box. For more information about the New Analysis dialog box, see New Analysis and Re-run Report Dialog Boxes.

URL Paths

Select the check boxes of the URLs that you want to include in the Sitemap, or select the Sitemaps that you want to include in the Sitemap index. You can expand or collapse the members of the tree by clicking the plus or minus signs next to the folders.

Warning
The SEO tool will display all the .xml files that it finds in the hierarchy. If you are selecting Sitemaps, you must know the names of the Sitemaps that you want to add. Be careful not to add a Sitemap Index file to a Sitemap.

Last Modified Date

Use the drop-down list to specify the date when the file was last modified. Possible values are Use Server Response, Do Not Set, and <Choose Date>. If you choose Use Server Response, the server will determine the date (typically the last modified date reported by the file system). Selecting <Choose Date> opens a small calendar that you can use to pick a date.

Change Frequency

Choose a value from the drop-down list that indicates to search engines how frequently the Web page is likely to change. Possible values are Always, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Never, and NotSpecified. The default is Weekly. "Always" refers to pages that change each time they are accessed, while "Never" describes archived URLs. For more information, see the Sitemaps XML format page at Sitemap.org.

This attribute applies only to the URLs listed in Sitemap files. It does not apply to Sitemap files themselves.

Priority

Use the drop-down list to select a priority for the Web page. Valid values are from 0.0 through 1.0, with 1.0 being the highest. The default priority is 0.5. This priority is a way for you to indicate to search engines which pages of your Web site you consider most significant. The priority that you choose will be relative to other URLs on your site and have no relationship with pages on other Web sites.

This attribute applies only to the URLs listed in Sitemap files. It does not apply to Sitemap files themselves.
