Steps for Deploying an HPC Cluster with Remote Databases

The following checklist describes the overall process for deploying a Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 cluster with databases on remote servers. Each task in the checklist is linked to the section in this document that describes the steps to perform the task.

 

Task Description

Step 1: Prepare the Remote Database Servers

Configure the instance or instances of SQL Server 2008 SP1 where you want to install the HPC databases, manually create the HPC databases in those instances, and then create the login for the domain account that you will use for the installation of the HPC cluster.

Step 2: Install HPC Pack 2008 R2 with Remote Databases

Use the HPC Pack 2008 R2 installation wizard to install HPC Pack on the head node with remote databases.
