Add/Edit Playlist Page

Use the Add/Edit Playlist feature page to create or edit a playlist and manage its media entries.

UI Element List

The following tables describe the UI elements that are available on the feature page and in the Actions pane.

Playlist Attributes Elements

Use the Playlists attributes area to create an empty playlist and specify its attributes or to update attributes for an existing playlist.

Element Name Description

Playlist URL

Displays the URL of the playlist. This value is automatically generated from the Web site URL and the name of the playlist that you specify in File name. You can click the URL to test connectivity to the playlist file on the local computer. You can also click Copy URL to copy the Web playlist URL to the Clipboard, where it will be stored until you use the Paste command to insert it elsewhere (for example, into your Web site home page).

Tip
To test playlist connectivity on the Web server, install the Desktop Experience feature in Windows Server 2008. Desktop Experience includes Windows Media® Player for Windows Vista®.

File name

Enter a file name for the Web playlist file (a file that has an .isx file name extension).

Title

Enter a title for the Web playlist that will help you distinguish it from other playlists that are displayed on the Playlists feature page.

Description

Enter a description for the Web playlist that will help you distinguish it from other playlists displayed on the Playlists feature page. The description is not available to clients.

Media Entries Elements

Use the Media entries elements to view media entries in a playlist, add/remove media entries, change their playback order, and change their download properties. You can sort the list of media entries in a playlist by clicking one of the following Media entries area column headings.

Element Name Description

Content Location

Displays the path of the media asset for the media entry.

Title

Displays the media entry title.

Can Skip Forward

Displays whether the client can skip the media entry to begin playing the next media entry in the playlist.

Can Skip Back

Displays whether the client can skip back to the previous media entry in the playlist to play it again.

Can Seek

Displays whether the client can seek to different parts of the media entry.

Use the following UI elements to add/remove media entries, change their playback order, and change their download properties.

Element Name Description

Add

Opens the Add Media Entry dialog box.

Edit

Opens the Edit Media Entry dialog box.

Remove

Removes the selected media entry from the playlist.

Move Up

Moves the selected media entry up in the playlist presentation order.

Move Down

Moves the selected media entry down in the playlist presentation order.

Actions Pane Elements

Element Name Description

Apply

Applies the changes that you made to the playlist.

Cancel

Cancels the changes that you made to the playlist.

Disable Playlist

Disables the playlist. Disabled playlists are not available to clients.

Return To Playlists

Returns to the Playlists feature page.

Edit Playlist Settings

Opens the Edit Playlist Settings dialog box in which you can specify time-out values for the playlist.
