Select Logging Fields Dialog Box

The Select Logging Fields dialog box contains a list of all the logging fields that are available for adding to log definitions. Use this dialog box to select the logging fields that you want to log for this log definition by selecting the check box next to the logging field ID.

You can sort the list of logging fields by clicking a list column heading or by selecting a value in the Group by drop-down list to group similar items.

Note

You can add custom logging fields to and remove logging fields from the list by using the Edit Logging Fields dialog box.

UI Element List

Element Name Description

ID

The friendly name of the logging field.

Source Name

The name of the source that provides the information for the logging field. For example, if the Source type is a performance counter, the name of the performance counter.

Source Type

The source of information for the logging field. Information can be provided from the following source types:

  • Module. Information published by IIS modules.

  • Performance Counter. Measurements of system state or activity provided by the operating system or individual applications near the time of a request.

  • Request Header. Standard and custom HTTP headers that are included in a client request.

  • Response Header. Standard and custom HTTP headers that are included in a response to a client request.

  • Server Variable. IIS Server Variables.

Category

The name of a related set of logging fields to which the logging field belongs.

Note
The logging fields that are included in the default installation of IIS Advanced Logging are all assigned to the Default category.

Header name

The unique identifier of the logging field. The identifier is included in the #Fields directive in the log file header.
