Advanced Settings Dialog Box

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista

Use the Advanced Settings dialog box to specify global throttle rate settings for all file types displayed in the feature list.

UI Element List

Element Name Description

Default throttle rate

Type a value that restricts the throttle rate for all media files for which the encoded bit rate cannot be determined by this feature or when no throttle rate is specified for the file type.

Maximum throttle rate

Type a value that specifies the maximum throttle rate for all file types. You can set this global maximum value for files to limit the throttle rate, even if the throttle rate setting for a specific file type is higher.

Site target throughput rate

Type a value that specifies the bit rate throughput limit for the site. If the cumulative bit rate consumed by connected clients is less then this value, the surplus bandwidth is evenly distributed to client connections and files are downloaded to clients at faster throttle rates. As the number of connected clients change, throttle rates will vary as the available bandwidth is dynamically redistributed to client connections, but they will never be faster than the site throughput limit (if only one client is connected) or slower than the Throttle rate value that is specified for the file type that is being downloaded.

Note
This setting is available at the site level only.

Note

These settings do not affect Fast Start.
