Audio and video playback redirection provides the ability to decode a compressed stream and render the content on a client computer. For audio and playback redirection to function correctly, the client computer must be able to decode the stream.

No action is required

This issue can be ignored. When audio and video playback redirection is enabled, the video stream is rendered on the client computer and is not integrated into the Desktop Window Manager. As a result, you do not see a preview of the redirected video as it is being played back.

Verify

To verify that audio and video playback redirection is functioning correctly, establish a connection to the RD Session Host server and verify that the playback devices are shown in the Sound control panel.

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To verify that the playback and recording devices are shown in the Sound control panel:

  1. Establish a connection to the RD Session Host server.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.
  4. On the Playback tab, verify that Remote Audio shows in the list of playback devices.
