Windows Management Instrumentation cannot be accessed
Topic Last Modified: 2010-01-13
The Microsoft Exchange Analyzer Tool verifies whether the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider function is configured correctly on cluster nodes. The WMI provider must be configured correctly on all computers in the cluster so that Exchange Analyzer provides accurate reports about the Exchange environment. If the WMI provider is not configured correctly, you receive the following error message:
Exchange server: WMI cannot be accessed. Cannot connect to the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) repository on server Server_Name. This could be the result of a network or permissions problem. |
To address this error, obtain the WMI Diagnosis Utility to troubleshoot WMI. To obtain the utility, see "The WMI Diagnosis Utility -- Version 2.0" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=141928). The WMI Diagnosis Tool is a VBScript based-tool for testing, validating, and analyzing a WMI installation. Read the document "WMIDiag" that is included in the download package for specific directions about how to use the WMI Diagnosis Utility and how to correct the errors that may be found by the utility.
