[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. The Microsoft Exchange Analyzer Tool checks the Exchange environment to determine whether the following are configured:

  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is used on a Client Access server in Exchange Server 2007 for the /exchange virtual directory.

  • A mailbox that is on a server that is running Exchange Server 2003 is accessed through the Client Access server by using the address https://casServer/Exchange.

  • One of the following properties is set:

    • The value is set to 1 for the UseHostName property in the metabase on the server that is running Exchange 2003.

    • The value is set to a server name for the SetHostName property in the metabase on the Exchange 2003 server.

In this environment, when you access a mailbox that is located on the Exchange 2003 server, you may receive the following error message:

Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage.

To address this issue, edit the following metabase properties on the Exchange 2003 server:

  • Remove the SetHostName property.

  • Remove the UseHostName property. Or, change the value of the UseHostName property from 1 to 0.

For more information about editing the metabase properties, see the topic "Editing Metabase Properties (IIS 6.0)" (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=181180).
