FAST Search Server 2010

Applies to: FAST Search Server 2010

Topic Last Modified: 2011-01-21

You can uninstall an existing FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint installation from Control Panel. Files, registered snap-ins, and registry keys that were installed by the Installer (the MSI) are removed from the system.

Prerequisites, logs, data (including the index), the database, and other temporary or generated files are not removed by the uninstall option.

If you only want to uninstall one server in a multiple server FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint farm, you must first make a deployment reconfiguration to remove the server in question from the farm. Refer to Reconfigure the farm deployment (FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint) for more information.

  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

  3. Click FAST Search for SharePoint.

  4. When the uninstaller has finished, restart the server.

  5. Delete the files in the <FASTSearchFolder> (<FASTSearchFolder> is the folder where you installed FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint, for example C:\FASTSearch).

  6. Optional: If you no longer want to use FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint, you can delete the FAST Search Content Search Service Application (Content SSA) and the FAST Search Query Search Service Application (Query SSA) from Central Administration.

  7. Optional: If you no longer need the data in the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint database that was created when you installed FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint, you can delete the database. The database is stored in SQL Server.

You do not have to uninstall any parts of Microsoft SharePoint Server or delete any SharePoint Server databases when uninstalling FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint only.
