Configure the FASTSearchMonitoring service

The metrics service within the FASTSearchMonitoring Windows service poll statistics-, performance- and other health information from the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint processes and publishes them into performance counters and WMI. In the rare occasion it should be needed, the FASTSearchMonitoring service can be configured by editing the monitoringservice.xml file, located in the \etc directory of the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint installation folder.

Edit the FASTSearchMonitoring service

Edit the monitoringservice.xml file to configure WMI classes and performance counters published by the Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint monitoring service.

Apply the new FASTSearchMonitoring service configuration

Use the monitoringserviceconfig.exe utility to apply file changes and to synchronize the configuration, WMI classes, and performance counters registered in the Windows operating system.
