Monitoring the FAST Search Web crawler with SCOM

The FAST Search Management pack in SCOM provides views and reports on the FAST Search Web crawler and the Browser Engine. For more information about obtaining and installing the FAST Search Management pack in SCOM, refer to Monitor FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint with SCOM.

The Overview view provides a general status view of the FAST Search Web crawler and of the Browser Engine. Here you can see if the components are healthy. This view also provides a view of all important FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint events, including events from the FAST Search Web crawler and the Browser Engine.

The Performance folder has two individual views for the Browser Engine (BrowserEngine Performance), and the FAST Search Web crawler (CrawlerCollection Performance). Each view has a set of rules each with an explanation of the rule. The statistics of the CrawlerCollection Performance view is per crawl collection, the Target column specifies the name of the crawl collection. Additional reporting and status information can be retrieved from the Crawler Collection state within the State View folder.

The Windows Events folder contains two views; BrowserEngine Events and Crawler Events. These views provide useful information, warning and error events produced by the Browser Engine and the FAST Search Web crawler.

Note

All statistics are reset each time the Browser Engine is restarted.
