This article describes how to restore a backed-up Microsoft SharePoint Workspace account to a domain member’s computer. If Active Directory is integrated with your Groove Server Manager system, automating account recovery is the recommended method of recovering backed-up accounts, as described in Automate SharePoint Workspace account configuration/restoration. Otherwise, you can use the manual procedure provided in this article.

This procedure requires that Groove Server 2010 Manager is installed as described in Deployment for Groove Server 2010.

To manually restore a domain member’s backed-up SharePoint Workspace account

  1. Log on to the Groove Server 2010 Manager administrative Web site and select Default or a domain group in the navigation pane.

  2. Expand Members, and then click Default or a domain group.

  3. Use the Search and navigation tools to find the member whose account that you want to restore, and then click the user name entry. The member’s Account Information page appears.

  4. Click the Restore Account tab. If the backup policy is in effect and accounts have been backed up, the page lists the backed up accounts, displaying details for each as described in the following table:

    Note

If the Restore Account tab is unavailable, the backup policy is not in effect or no accounts have been backed up.

    Restore Account Fields Values

    Name

The name of the domain member who owns the account.

    Last backup

The date of the most recent account backup.

    Device Name

Name of the device on which the account was backed up.

    Size

Size in megabytes of the backed-up account.

  5. If you do not want to send the backed-up account in e-mail to a user, click the Download button to save the backed-up account file (<identity>.grv) a specific location to which you can refer the user, and then click OK.

  6. Enter or edit the account restoration e-mail fields, as described in Editing SharePoint Workspace account configuration e-mail. This will attach the backed-up account file <identity>.grv together with the e-mail to the user for restoration.

  7. Once the SharePoint Workspace user receives this e-mail, the user can restore the account using the New Account wizard, available by clicking the SharePoint Workspace icon in the notification area and selecting the option to use an existing account. Restoring an account gives a SharePoint Workspace user a list of their workspaces. The user can retrieve workspace content from other workspace members by using the workspace list as a reference together with the Fetch capability.
