Summary:   With Microsoft OneNote Web App, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 users can modify their notebooks by using a Web browser. The front end Web server portion of the feature is responsible for ensuring that all updates to the notebook that were made in the Web browser are saved to the server and reflected across all client computers.

Symptoms:   If the front-end Web server starts taking a long time to process requests, you may observe the following symptoms:

  • Edits that are made by multiple authors who edit the document at the same time take a long time to replicate across multiple browsers.

  • OneNote Web App takes a long time to exit.

Cause:   This might be caused by OneNote Web App competing for scarce resources.

Resolution:   Restart Internet Information Services

  1. Verify that the user account that is performing this procedure is a member of the local Administrators group.

  2. At the command prompt, type iisreset -force and press ENTER.

Resolution:   Add another server to the farm

  1. If this failure keeps occurring, you should add a server to the farm to help load-balance the workload.
