How to: Create a Member or Collection by Using tblStgMember (Master Data Services)

In Master Data Services, you can use the staging process to create multiple members or collections in bulk.

To perform this procedure:

To create a member or collection

  1. Prepare the members or collections for import into the mdm.tblStgMember table in the Master Data Services database. For more information and an example, see Members Staging Table (Master Data Services).

  2. Open SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the Database Engine instance for your Master Data Services database.

  3. Import the data into mdm.tblStgMember. For information about importing data into a database by using SQL Server Integration Services, see How to: Run the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard.

  4. After you successfully import the data, in Master Data Manager, click Integration Management.

  5. In the Unbatched Staging Records pane, from the Model list, select the model that contains records you want to import.

  6. From the Version list, select a version. The version must have the Status of Open or Locked.

  7. Confirm that the displayed number of records matches the number of records you plan to import. If it does not, see Troubleshooting the Staging Process (Master Data Services).

  8. Click Process unbatched data. In the Staging Batches pane, the value in the Status column changes to Queued to Run.

    NoteNote

The staging queue runs automatically at intervals based on the Staging batch interval set in Master Data Services Configuration Manager. For more information, see System Settings (Master Data Services).

  9. The import is complete when the value in the Status column is Not Running. You can refresh the page to view the updated status by clicking Import on the menu bar.
