Troubleshooting IP address changes

Warning

Changing the internal or external IP address on a Forefront UAG server is currently an unsupported scenario. The internal and external NICs should be configured before running the Forefront UAG installation. Changing the IP addresses on an operational Forefront UAG server will break the functionality, and is not achievable through the Forefront UAG Management console.

Changing the internal or external IP address on a Forefront UAG server is currently an unsupported scenario. However, if you changed an internal or external IP, or DIP address, you can try the following steps to remedy expected issues.

Scenario

  1. Perform an export from the Forefront UAG array manager server.

  2. Disjoin all members from the array.

  3. Change the internal IP address or DIP on the array manager server.

  4. Import the exported configuration settings to the future Forefront UAG array manager server.

  5. Set the Forefront UAG server to be an array manager server.

  6. Join all array members to the array.

  7. Click Activate.

  1. Disjoin the member from the array.

  2. Change the IP address or DIP.

  3. Rejoin the member to the array.

  4. Click Activate.

  1. Change the external DIP on the Forefront UAG array manager server.

  2. On the Taskbar, click Start, click Admin Tools, and then open the Network Load Balancing Manager.

  3. In the NLB manager, select the cluster name.

  4. On the Admin menu, click Host, click Properties, and then click Edit. Enter the new external DIP, and then click OK twice.

  5. From the Forefront UAG Management console, on the File menu, click Reload Configuration.

  6. On the relevant trunk, select Use non-integrated NLB, select the IP address showing wildcards, select the new DIP address, click Use Integrated NLB, and then click Activate.
