The server is a namespace server for the following namespace, but is not enabled. Namespace:

Impact

If no other namespace servers are available, client computers will not be able to access the following namespace:

Resolution

Use DFS Management or the Dfsutil command-line tool to enable all namespace servers, or to remove permanently disabled servers from the namespace.

To enable or disable a namespace server in Windows Server 2008 R2, use one of the following procedures:

  • Enable or disable referrals to a namespace server by using DFS Management

  • Enable or disable referrals to a namespace server by using a Command Prompt window

Enable or disable referrals to a namespace server by using DFS Management

  1. In DFS Management, select the appropriate namespace, and then click the Namespace Servers tab.

  2. Right-click the appropriate namespace server, and then click Enable Namespace Server.

Enable or disable referrals to a namespace server by using a Command Prompt window

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt window.

  2. Type Dfsutil Property State online*<DfsPath>*, where <DfsPath> is the UNC path of the shared resource on the disabled namespace server that hosts the namespace root (for example \\srv3\public).
