Understanding Policy Filter Settings in FOPE

Applies to: Forefront Online Protection for Exchange

Topic Last Modified: 2012-04-19

On the Domains sub-tab of the Administration tab in the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) Administration Center, you can enable rules that can help your organization comply with the United States Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). If you subscribe to the optional Exchange Hosted Encryption email service, you have the ability to configure outbound encryption rules that evaluate outbound email for matches to phrases that require email encrypted if used in email, according to HIPAA. For more information about how to enable these rules, see Enable and Disable HIPAA Rules.

You can also add plain text and HTML footers to all outbound email messages (including reply messages). Examples of common footers include your company’s name, address, and contact information, or a required legal disclaimer. You can apply this feature at the domain level (Parent Domains or Virtual Domains). For more information about how to add footers, see Create an E-mail Footer for Outbound E-mail.
